Frontends: Get around the Online Safety Act without a VPN

2026-02-25

The fast and free way to get around the OSA.

Are you based in the UK? If so, you've probably noticed that trying to simply browse the web is now an arduous task. Every website seems to want you to provide identification. Not only is this annoying, it is a significant safety risk. Providing your identification online opens you up to identity theft, and consequences based on your online activity. Everyone is telling you to download a VPN, but free VPN options are usually not safe (we have another post about that!). If you just need to quickly access a specific platform that's restricted in the UK, look no further.

Alternative Frontends

Alternative frontends are websites that allow you to view content in a fast and private manner. When you connect to a frontend, the server (usually outside the UK) will fetch the content for you and display it in an optimized way. Our Public Instance Beta currently operates redlib for Reddit and rimgo for Imgur, both websites that now demand ID for UK users. Using our frontend solution allows you to appear as a non-UK user, as long as our services are not blocked by your internet service provider.

Our instances:

If you find our services blocked, please contact us so we can investigate. If they are, you can find many other instances of these frontends using the lists below:

Many more frontends also exist for other services, check out LibRedirect for a full listing and browser extension to automatically use alternative frontends.

How you can help

If you are outside the UK or have the means to setup a server outside the UK, you can help provide free and open access to content. You too can setup your own frontends, or even your own VPN server. The more people who do this, the harder it becomes to enforce the Online Safety Act by blocking specific websites.
